The BOOSTER from Sibarist is a project developed side by side with WBrC 2021 Champion, Matt Winton. The booster is essentially a specially designed mesh to place underneath your filter paper, between the paper and the brewer, directly below the bed. The amount, and size of holes has been specially designed to provide a huge number of contact points with the filter, which dramatically increases flow, and especially evenness of flow through the bed. This means that you will have no clogging/choking, and are able to grind finer to extract more without bitterness or dryness in your brew. It's made out of stainless steel, and coated with food safe gold plating. The BOOSTER comes in 2 sizes for 2 types of brewers.
The BOOSTER 45 is a 45mm disc which is designed to work with any Flat bed brewer, such as the April, Kalita, Orea, or Stagg X. By sitting underneath the filter paper, between the paper and the brewer, it will dramatically enhance flow through the bed, and remove any chance of choking/clogging that you may naturally get with almost all flat bed brewers due to low contact points. It will improve your brews if you use a B3 FLAT paper, or a Kalita Wave paper alike.
The BOOSTER 22 is a 22mm disc which is designed to work with the B3 HYBRID papers, in most conical brewers. The disc is placed underneath the flat base of the HYBRID paper, creating many contact points under the base of the paper, which encourages more flow through the bed, instead of out the side walls. This allows us to extract more if we choose, while still retaining the characteristics of the conical brewing. There are guiding tabs to ensure that the booster sits flat in the bottom of the brewer. It's possible to use with other paper filters, but the results will not be as dramatic as with the B3 HYBRID papers.
This is a special early release of the BOOSTER, and is currently in plain packaging, but is in the products final version.
